First introduced in the early 1900s, Fearnought was Dugdale’s first cloth made entirely from Australian merino wool, embodying Huddersfield’s central role in the global industrial revolution. Today, these luxurious yet durable suiting cloths feature a unique heritage finish, crafted through a series of proprietary techniques exclusive to Dugdale Bros & Co. One of these techniques involves resting the cloth in the basement of our Huddersfield towers, where the cold, damp air infuses the natural fibres with revitalising moisture, giving the fabric its distinctive, unparalleled handle.
